Stefanie Andrina Grichting
Stefanie Andrina Grichting (b 1994) works and lives in Switzerland. Her practice spans painting and sculpture, exploring the delicate interplay between reality, imagination, and narrative. She studied at the BAA in Barcelona.
A flowing sense of movement — even in moments of stillness — creates a paradiselike atmosphere in her work, where reality gently slips into the surreal and every figure becomes part of a larger story. Stefanie’s works never aim for strict naturalism; she experiments with light, composition, and folkloric elements to construct dreamlike worlds. Plants, animals, and lighting operate as symbolic cues, while the poses of her models reveal deeper emotional and psychological intentions. “Finding something genuine is hard,” she notes. “People pose for selfies, invent personas, or are defined by the roles society assigns them. We all know this too well today. And I like that — it shows who we could be without limitations.”
Her sculptural work opens another dimension of her figurative exploration. Fascinated by three-dimensional form, Stefanie studies individual character traits, experimenting with Mannerist gestures and touches of Surrealism. These works function as narratives themselves, embodying historical or mythological figures while inviting viewers to encounter them as living presences rather than distant symbols.
Across all media, Stefanie Andrina Grichting investigates how perception, imagination, and emotion shape our experience of the world. Her work celebrates the imperfect, fragile, and paradiselike moments of life — a world at once familiar and subtly unreal, where each figure, color, and gesture carries a story waiting to be felt.
